We are excited to welcome two local farms as Turkey Trot sponsors this year: Alewive’s Brook Farm and Jordan’s Farm.

Each farm has donated items that will be auctioned off to benefit our race beneficiary, Wayside Food Programs. The items are three $100 certificates for produce at Jordan’s Farm, and three certificates for a large turkey (about 20 pounds) from Alewive’s Brook Farm.

Here’s how the auction works:

The auction is open to runners, race volunteers and “friends and family”
The bid starting price for each of the six certificates is $90.
Between now and Friday, Nov. 22, send an email to Bruce@afitplanet.com with your name, contact email and phone number, and the bid amount. Specify if the bid is for a $100 certificate for Jordan’s Farm produce or a $100 certificate for an Alewive’s Brook Farm turkey. You can place bids on both if you like.

On Saturday, we will continue the auction at packet pickup from 10 a.m. to noon at Fleet Feet Portland, the MTC Turkey Trot’s presenting sponsor.

On Sunday, we will have bid sheets available at registration before the race from 7 to 9 am, at Cape Elizabeth Middle School.
The winners will be announced during the awards ceremony after the race.

Everyone wins in this auction: Wayside receives a donation, you get outstanding local produce or a delicious local Thanksgiving turkey, and both Alewive’s Brook Farm and Jordan’s Farm support and nourish the local community. It’s a beautiful thing!
